Illinois woman drowns after ATV crash at Southern Kentucky park
A woman drowned after a four-wheeler crash Friday afternoon at Wildcat Offroad Park in Laurel County.
Peggy Nelk, of Danville, Ill., was riding off-road with her husband when their all-terrain vehicle flipped in water, and Nelk got trapped in the vehicle, said Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
“They were in a creek bed on their ATV. The water was deeper than they thought,” Bowling said.
Danville, Ill., is in eastern Illinois, near the Indiana border, about 350 miles from Laurel County.
