Kentucky man dies after being hit by sheriff’s deputy in vehicle pursuit
A man was hit and killed by a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle during a pursuit in Northern Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.
The crash happened July 1 on Ambrose Road in Warsaw. State police said Gallatin County sheriff’s deputy Matthew Daily attempted to pull over Justin Hunt, 37, for a traffic violation, but Hunt fled, initiating a pursuit.
Hunt lost control of his motorcycle in an S-curve portion of the road, and drove into a grassy area and down a steep embankment. State police said Daily drove onto the same S-curve and tried to stop his vehicle, but he was unable to because of the steepness of the embankment, hitting Hunt.
Hunt was declared dead at the scene, according to state police. The collision is being investigated by KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team.
Hunt had two sons and worked as a laborer in the concrete field, according to his obituary. He was born in Edgewood and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, along with hunting and fishing.
