Three people were killed and three more were injured in a crash late Friday on Interstate 64 involving four tractor-trailers and two cars.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. in Woodford County, near mile marker 61, between the Midway and East Frankfort exits, according to TV station WKYT.

Smoke billowed high above a fire that broke out at the crash scene Friday evening. News outlets on the scene reported that vehicles from Woodford County Coroner Penny Baker’s office were on scene Friday evening.

All lanes of I-64 West were shut down for several hours, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. All lanes didn’t reopen until about 7:15 a.m. Saturday.

WKYT reported that two of the four tractor-trailer drivers were killed in the crash, as well as one person in a passenger car.

The circumstances of the crash were not available Saturday afternoon.
