30-year-old shot in the head dies, Kentucky cops say. His brothers are charged
Two men have been charged in the death of their brother, who Kentucky authorities say was shot dead during an argument between the family members.
Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department were dispatched to a home for a report of a shooting Oct. 19, and they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his head and right leg, according to a citation.
The victim, identified by WAVE 3 as 30-year-old Darryl Burnett, Jr., died after being taken to a hospital, police said.
Kiaira Paige and Darrel Burnett — who WAVE and WLKY reported are the brothers of the victim — were brought in for questioning and admitted their roles in the assault and killing of their brother, according to the citation.
Police said Paige, 36, admitted to shooting his brother in the right leg after they were involved “in a physical altercation.”
Video obtained from the scene shows Darrel Burnett, 37, follow Darryl Burnett Jr. outside and shoot him in the head with a rifle, which he admitted to doing, police said.
A reasoning for the shooting remains unclear.
Paige was charged with second-degree assault and was jailed on a $75,000 bond, court records show.
Burnett, who faces a murder charge, has a $500,000 bond, according to the court records.
