Longtime Central KY political journalist Barry Peel dies at 80

A longtime Central Kentucky political correspondent has died.

Barry Peel, 80, died Oct. 31, according to his obituary.

Peel worked as a journalist for 30 years with local stations WTVQ and WKYT. He was a common guest on Kentucky Educational Television’s “Comment on Kentucky” segment.

He previously hosted several political debates.

Peel died at the Stanford Crossing Rehabilitation Center, but previously lived in Lancaster.

Arrangements are pending, according to Spurlin Funeral Home.
