Lexington players can get free Mega Millions tickets as jackpot nears $1B. Here’s how

One of the largest jackpots in Mega Millions history is on the line Friday, and Lexington players will have the chance to pick up free $5 coupons for the game at Kroger ahead of the 11 p.m. drawing.

Friday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m., the Kentucky Lottery will be giving away the coupons at the Kroger at 760 Newtown Springs Drive in Lexington, according to a Thursday announcement.

The jackpot for the Friday night drawing, currently estimated at $965 million, is the eighth-largest since the game began in 2002.

Kentucky Lottery spokesperson Terry Sebastian said organizers are planning for a crowd of up to 500 people.

“Coupons will be available while supplies last,” Sebastian told the Herald-Leader in an email Thursday.

A second giveaway will also take place Friday at a Louisville Kroger located at 5000 Mud Lane at 1 p.m.

Mega Millions tickets are $5 per play in Kentucky as part of several changes with the game.
