Head-on collision on snow-covered KY road leaves one dead, 3 critically injured
One person died and others had life-threatening injuries after a crash involving seven vehicles in Northern Kentucky Monday.
Five men were in a northbound pickup truck on Ky. 9, AA Highway in Bracken County when the driver of a southbound 2005 Mitsubishi box truck lost control on a road covered in snow and crossed the center line, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.
The vehicles collided head-on, and the driver of the pickup died at the scene, state police said.
The four passengers in the pickup truck were initially taken to Meadowview Hospital in Mason County, but three of them were later transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries, state police said.
“Five other vehicles were unable to stop and were also involved in the collision,” the release stated. “Two drivers from those vehicles were transported to Meadowview for non-life-threatening injuries.”
State police said they were called about the crash at 7:58 a.m.
