Another downtown Lexington hotel to undergo a multimillion dollar renovation

Hilton Hotels & Resorts

A second downtown Lexington hotel could be getting a facelift.

The Hilton on Vine and Broadway is planning a $20.9 million overhaul and remodel, according to information provided Wednesday during a state tourism committee meeting.

The hotel received initial approval Dec. 17 from the Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority for up to $5.2 million in state tax incentives for the project.

The renovation of the meeting and hotel rooms will begin in 2027, according to finance authority board meeting documents.

The initial approval allows the Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority to hire an expert to analyze the Hilton group’s plans to determine if the group meets criteria for up to 25% in tax breaks for the project.

The Lexington Downtown Hotel Investment LLC, which is overseeing the project, will return to the finance authority sometime in 2026 to get final approval of the tax incentives.

Details of what type of renovations will occur at the Hilton were not immediately available. The hotel is near the revamped and recently expanded Central Bank Center and Rupp Arena complex.

The more than 360-room Hilton was built in 1982. It last changed hands in 2014, when it sold for $37.1 million, according to the Fayette County Property Valuation Administrator’s database online.

The Hilton is not the only downtown hotel getting a makeover.

Earlier this year, the Hyatt on the opposite corner also received approval from the state for incentives for a $58.5 million remodel that is expected to begin in the summer of 2026 and be completed in September.
