A beloved volunteer librarian and art teacher, Adelia “Ada” Zeidler, older sister to famed actor George Clooney, has died.

Zeidler, of Augusta, died Dec. 19 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood from cancer.

She was 65.

Clooney called his sister his hero, in statement to People Magazine.

“She faced down cancer with courage and humor,” Clooney said. “I’ve never met anyone so brave. Amal and I will miss her terribly.”

In a statement from Augusta Independent Schools, they said “Miss Ada” spent years volunteering for the school district, especially the library, giving “countless hours back to the youth of the community.”

“We extend our thoughts and prayers to the Zeidler and Clooney families during this difficult time,” the statement read.

In addition to working in the school’s library, Zeidler was an art teacher, according to her obituary.

She was also a member of the Augusta Art Guild and was a past grand marshal of Augusta’s Annual White Christmas Parade.

A funeral mass is scheduled for noon Dec. 22 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maysvillle.

Private interment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Washington, Kentucky.
