Three women were found dead after a fire was put out at a home in Leslie County Friday night, and a teen girl was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire at a home on U.S. 421 in the Hyden community was reported to Kentucky State Police at 10:53 p.m., police said in a news release.

The remains of Lisa Marcum, 56, Jadeana Begley, 50, and June Nantz, 84, were discovered during a search after the fire was extinguished. The Leslie County Coroner’s Office pronounced them dead at the scene.

All three women are thought to have been residents of the home, and no foul play is suspected, state police said.

The remains were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for autopsy.

Trooper Matt Gayheart said the teen who was taken to the hospital is thought to have been the only other person in the home at the time of the fire.
