A serious wreck in South-Central Kentucky left a 14-year-old driver dead and three other passengers injured Tuesday, according to Kentucky State Police.

The crash happened around 9:10 a.m. Central March 10 on KY 88 in Green County. State police said a 14-year-old boy was driving a Subaru Forester and lost control on a curve, sideswiping a bucket truck traveling the other direction.

The Subaru then collided with a pickup traveling in the same direction. KSP said the pickup truck caught on fire, but the driver was able to escape before the fire reached the passenger compartment.

The boy driving the Forester was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. His identity was not provided.

There were three passengers in the boy’s vehicle between 20 and 32 years old. State police said one of the passengers was taken to University of Louisville Health with serious injuries and the other two passengers were taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the bucket truck and pickup truck were uninjured, according to state police.

State police is investigating the crash.
