The Hamilton County underwater search and recovery unit found Jenny’s body in a pond near her home at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
“Tragically, this is not the outcome we had hoped for. We thank all the first responders, the public, and the media for all their effort during this investigation,” state police said in an updated news release Saturday night.
Jenny’s aunt, Julie Par, wrote in a post on Facebook that Jenny was, “deeply loved by our family, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.”
“Although our hearts are deeply broken by this loss, we find comfort in knowing that Jenny has finally found peace and rest in our Heavenly Father’s arms,” Par wrote on Facebook. “We hold onto our faith and trust that she is now safe, at peace, and surrounded by God’s love.”
Par also thanked the agencies that contributed to the search. The sheriff’s office said at least 20 organizations, including the FBI, state police, emergency management from several counties, multiple fire departments and others, participated.
“Please know that we are truly thankful for each and every one of you,” Par wrote on Facebook. “We are so grateful to have such dedicated law enforcement officers and rescue teams, and we thank you for your service.”
The fundraiser had garnered more than $10,000 in support as of noon Monday. Organizers wrote money raised from the GoFundMe will also go to caring for Jenny’s brother, who is also has autism.
“The love and support we have received mean more than words can express,” Par wrote. “We can never repay you, but we pray that God blesses each and every one of you.”
The sheriff’s office said the investigation into Jenny’s death has been transferred to its criminal investigations division.
