Man found dead in river in Laurel County Saturday drowned, sheriff says

A man found face-down in a river in Laurel County on Saturday is thought to have drowned, the sheriff’s office says.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to the area of Ky. 1956, about 11 miles west of London, at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, after the man’s body was found in the water.

Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling pronounced the man, identified as Terry Vickers, 56, of London, dead at the scene.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said it is continuing to investigate.
