Crash kills Cawood man

A Harlan County man was killed when his 1999 Dodge Caravan went over an embankment off Ky. 987 near Cawood and struck a tree, Kentucky State Police said.

Police said Ronald Scott Jr., 34, of Cawood was traveling alone early Saturday. The vehicle was not discovered for several hours because the area was densely wooded.

Police said alcohol use was suspected, and Scott was not wearing a seat belt.
