Governor's wife, Lyons to tour promoting WEG

A weekly update about what's going on in Lexington and beyond related to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

First Lady Jane Beshear and Alltech President Pearse Lyons will travel around Kentucky and five neighboring states to promote the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The three-day tour will include a press conference at each of nine stops to allow the media to talk to Beshear, an equestrian who has been deeply involved with the Games.

The schedule includes stops in Charleston, W.Va.; Knoxville and Nashville; Springfield, Mo.; Indianapolis; and Cincinnati, as well as several cities in Western Kentucky.

Farm tour tickets available

The first on-line ticketing for horse farm tours is available at www.horsecapitaltours.com. Horse Capital Tours, a subsidiary of Horse Capital Productions, has partnered with several industry groups and tour companies to create the themed tours, which include farms such as Three Chimneys, Donamire and Lane's End. The tours will also include equine veterinary facilities such as Rood and Riddle.

Horse Capital Productions is the organizer of the International Equestrian Festival, a trade show and entertainment venue that will be at the Lexington Civic Center during the World Equestrian Games, Sept. 25-Oct. 10.

Parade opens festival
