Man robs Lawrenceburg convenience mart

Lawrenceburg police have arrested a man in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store Thursday night.

John Russell Denney, 19, of Lawrenceburg, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree robbery. Denney was identified as a suspect and admitted his involvement during questioning, police said.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a man entered Prime Star III at 512 E. Woodford Street, went to the candy aisle and selected two Rice Krispie Treats bars. He then approached the counter, pulled a handgun from his waistband and demanded money from an employee.

He took $1,218 in cash and fled, leaving the Rice Krispie bars on the counter.

The perpetrator was described as a white man wearing blue jeans, a green jacket with a hood, brown boots, gray gloves and sunglasses.

Denney was lodged in the Franklin County jail.
