A round of winter weather is heading for the Bluegrass Thursday.

The entire state could get some snowfall, though the exact timing and who will get the most is not yet known, the National Weather Service said.

The snow will be followed by a blast of cold air, with lows in the teens and single digits and wind chills near zero Friday morning.

The National Weather Service in Louisville said the snow should begin falling Thursday afternoon in Central Kentucky, impacting travel. The agency said it has “high confidence” that most of Central Kentucky continuing down to the Tennessee state line will get at least 1 to 2 inches of snow.

WKYT Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey said some places could get up to 6 inches, with the southeastern portion of the state possibly getting the most snow.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for some sunshine and a high of 45 in Lexington, followed by highs in the 20s Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to reach back into the mid-40s with sunshine returning, the weather service said.
