Kentucky placed under a flood watch with rain in forecast for recently-flooded areas
Heavy rainfall is forecast to hit Kentucky starting Friday and continuing into Saturday, which could lead to flooding across much of the state, including additional flooding in areas already ravaged by deadly floods in Eastern Kentucky.
Virtually the entire state of Kentucky is under a flood watch from Friday morning through Saturday morning. The National Weather Service in Jackson said a slow-moving storm will bring excessive rain to the area and could create flooding in places that experienced the devastating floods last week.
Additional storms on Sunday and through part of next week could bring additional rain threats, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service branch in Louisville said 1 to 3 inches of rain are possible in Central Kentucky through Friday evening from the slow-moving storms. Flash flooding from the heavy rainfall is possible, according to the National Weather Service.
