What’s your favorite sledding hill in Lexington? Here are some of ours.

Winter Storm Blair dumped about 7 inches of snow — plus ice — on Fayette County Sunday and Monday, providing kids and adults with the first opportunity for sledding this season.

Fayette County Public Schools canceled schools Tuesday and Wednesday, giving kids extra time to enjoy the snow.

Hills aren’t as plentiful in Fayette County as in other areas of Kentucky, but there are still lots of spots for outdoor fun.

Bundle up, grab a sled and get outside.

Here are some favorite sledding spots in the area:

  • University of Kentucky William T. Young Library lawn, 401 Hilltop Ave.
  • Easter Seals of Kentucky (former Shriners Hospital), 1900 Richmond Road
  • Stonewall Elementary, 3215 Cornwall Dr.
  • Jacobson Park, hill near the dog park, 4001 Athens Boonesboro Road
  • Sandersville Elementary, hill behind the school, 3025 Sandersville Rd
  • Higbee Mill Park, 1421 Higbee Mill Road
  • Veterans Park, several hills in the area including one behind elementary school, 4351 Clearwater Way
