Batten down the hatches, Kentuckians: A wave of stormy weather is predicted to rumble through the Bluegrass State this evening and continue through Monday morning.

Meteorologists warn thunderstorms, hail, damaging winds, tornadoes and rainfall across the commonwealth.

In Lexington and central Kentucky, the wave of storms is expected to slam the region between 9 p.m. to midnight and continue into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected late Sunday afternoon into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a chance for damaging winds, brief tornadoes and large hail.

Storms will gradually move to the Southeast tonight into Monday morning. Predictions show up to two inches of rainfall across the commonwealth.

Rainfall could be heavy and trigger the possibility for flash flooding Sunday evening.
