Record rainfall continues in Kentucky as Sunday brought high winds and periodic downpours.

Central Kentucky saw more than an inch of rainfall and winds up to 40 mph, according to Chris Bailey, chief meteorologist with WKYT.

Sunday makes the 18th calendar day of this year with one-inch or more of rainfall, he said.

That is the third-highest rate of rainfall per year in the last 55 years.

The highest record is from 2013, which recorded more than 20 days of one-inch rainfall, Bailey said.

As Sunday continues, the threat is low for severe storms, but high winds and showers will continue into the evening when temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s and 40s.

Monday should bring sunny weather and high of 70 degrees.
