Wind chills to stay in teens or below for several days as arctic cold pushes into KY
Saturday’s weather was as warm as Central Kentuckians will see for several days.
After a chance of scattered snow showers Saturday night, a wave of arctic cold moves in, bringing wind chills that could drop to around zero, according to WKYT Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey.
Wind chills across much of the state will remain in the teens and single digits for the next three days, the National Weather Service in Louisville said Saturday.
Highs will reach only into the 20s Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, before Lexington gets a high of 41 on Wednesday, according to the weather service.
Tuesday morning is expected to be the coldest this week, with a low of around 7 and a wind chill of minus 2 degrees in Lexington, the weather service said.
“Motorists should remember that as temperatures drop this evening, there is the possibility of black ice,” the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 7, which includes Fayette and surrounding counties, said in a news release.
While temperatures drop, the forecast calls for dry, sunny skies each day next week until a chance of showers moves back in toward the weekend, according to the NWS.
