C.E. Huffman responds to Herald-Leader endorsement in Lexington mayor’s race | Opinion
As a former journalist and the only UK employee in this primary, it’s extremely disappointing that a group of journalists who’ve criticized the current administration’s leadership and lack of government relationships in multiple articles would choose to support a third term for an ineffective mayor with zero vision. After TWO years of failed weather responses from a mayor with over TWO decades of “experience,” citizens of Fayette County deserve more.
It’s puzzling that the editorial board stated new ideas drove their support for Carter. While Mrs. Carter’s ambitions are noble, not once has she shown up to a LFUCG meeting. I know because I have…for almost four years. She has provided broad plans, but no direct vision or path forward. I have a detailed plan to move Fayette County forward. Please check it out at: giveemhellhuffman.com. You will find an almost 11-page plan that I created after three years of interviewing my family, friends, co-workers and community members about what’s important to them.
It would be responsible for the journalists of the once great Herald-Leader to provide more investigations and scrutiny of the donations list. Lexingtonians, I urge you to look at who donated to BOTH corporate candidates by searching for them on Kentucky’s Registry of Election Finance. They are different sides of the same coin and will govern as a return on investment for their corporate donors.
My campaign is human-focused and people-driven. I have not asked for one donation, just the opportunity to share my plan to deliver dignity to every Lexingtonian who calls Fayette County home!
C.E. Huffman wrote this piece in response to the Herald-Leader’s endorsement of Linda Gorton and Raquel Carter for Lexington’s mayoral primary. The Herald-Leader invites candidates who were not endorsed to respond with an op-ed.
