Keep Susan Lamb in 4th District council seat
Voters in District 4 should return Susan Lamb to the Urban County Council. Her four years on the council don’t begin to cover her experience, as she spent two decades in the council clerk’s office and has served Lexington in various capacities dating back to the administration of Scotty Baesler.
Lamb has served ably on a wide variety of committees, including Planning and Public Safety, Budget, Finance and Economic Development, and chaired the General Government and Social Services Committee.
She has joined subcommittees or advisory boards on infill and redevelopment, census, veterans’ affairs, ethics, social services and others, giving her a broad and deep understanding of a whole range of issues before the council.
Thoughtful and thorough, Lamb will no doubt reward district voters by becoming even more valuable as their representative over another term.
Her opponent, Barry Saturday, is a pleasant, energetic confident second-time candidate. His advocacy for improving traffic flow, tourism, resources for first responders, and communication at city hall is difficult to argue with. And his passion for universal preschool is commendable, though the council has a very limited role in education.
Overall, there is really no sensible case to be made for removing Lamb, who has earned the enthusiastic support of District 4 voters.
The unendorsed candidate may submit a 250-word response by noon Monday.
