Stivers recognized

A lot of politicians talk the bipartisan talk but many fewer walk the walk.

Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, does both and for that Governing magazine has recognized him as one of nine public officials of the year.

Governing took particular note of Stivers’ efforts to overcome the gridlock between Kentucky’s Democratic House and Republican Senate, particularly noting last session’s legislation to address Kentucky’s heroin epidemic.

They don’t always agree, Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear told Governing, but Stivers “is willing to sit down and discuss any issue, using some common sense and trying to find a path forward.”
