Bathroom silliness unnecessary

The anti-gay rights protest against transgender students’ use of their bathroom of choice has stirred up a tempest in a pee pot.

Who would be put at risk? If anybody, it would be the vastly outnumbered transgender students.

Don’t school bathrooms have booths with locks for privacy and anonymity? And, if not, a school could easily install a single-user unisex bathroom such as in many small restaurants and theaters. Any student, faculty, staff or visitor could use these as an alternative.

This entire matter is nothing but another ugly distraction by the radical right. As a wise man once commented, “They are stepping on gnats while the elephants tear down the tent.”
