Just more anti-gay hate

The Rev. Robert Cunningham of Tate’s Creek Presbyterian Church wrote in a Sept. 3 commentary, “Straight truth: Sexuality is complex,” about a study published in the New Atlantis which he says, “... completely dismantles the reigning assumptions of our culture” regarding sexuality and gender.

This piece has been widely circulated and used by religious organizations to say, “See, we told you so.” Although it is portrayed as scientific fact, the study is written by two widely recognized anti-gay fanatics. The authors have a long history of bashing gay people from within the ivory towers of the “research community.” But, there is nothing at all new in this study as the authors’ opinions about the LGBT community haven’t changed in 30 years.

So what this means is that this dubious work has been picked up by the Cunningham’s of the world and is being used as yet another excuse to shame and persecute gay people.

There is little wonder why some gay people might suffer from depression and thoughts of suicide since there are so many “good Christians” hard at work finding ways to grind their gay brethren under their heels.
