Improve retiree pension investment

Being a retired state employee, I find it disturbing that our legislature is simply playing politics when it comes to working together to solve this precarious predicament that is facing our pension system.

It doesn’t quite make sense that Kentucky Retirement Systems investments for retirees had an overall net loss of 0.5 percent for 2016 while the separate legislatures pension system had a net gain of 3.45 percent.

Would it not make sense to invest the state retirees’ pension funds in the same funds as our state lawmakers? Seems simple enough. Or is it an issue of “what’s mine is mine and we will get around to worrying about yours some other time?”
