Clay’s true legacy
Tom Eblen’s Sept. 14 column about Henry Clay’s impact on modern political campaigns was a masterpiece. It should be must reading for history students. Clay, called Lexington’s favorite son, has been often quoted as saying, “I’d rather be right than president.”
To this day, there are those who claim Clay never achieved either status.
