Acree for Supreme Court

On Oct. 2, The League of Women Voters and KY Links held a candidate forum in Lexington.

Republicans apparently no longer desire to meet constituents, declined or gave no response to the organizers. GOP snubbing of highly respected organizations marks another low.

Democrats were there and two Kentucky Supreme Court candidates for District 5 — Glenn Acree and Larry VanMeter.

I met VanMeter before the meeting, introducing myself as from Georgetown. He gave me a condescending look, pointed to the poster saying, “This is for Lexington voters.” I reminded him that he was on the ballot in Georgetown. He did not seem pleased.

Acree was pleased to meet me and we talked.

VanMeter said the most important factor for a judge was humility. Acree said it was empathy and compassion.

VanMeter said judges need raises, Acree said court employees need raises they haven’t had.

The people’s choice: Glenn Acree.
