Will GOP leaders accept election results?
Donald Trump delivered another bombshell Wednesday night: He might not accept the results of the election. What exactly does it mean for a political leader to accept election results?
I would suggest that if Trump loses, we will never pay attention to Trump’s political views again. Although he might resist the results, I suspect he will not do anything significant. The question is whether elected Republican leaders will truly accept the results of the election.
Will they continue to hound Hillary Clinton about past emails? Will they continue to assault her credibility or claim that she belongs in jail?
Will people like Sen. Mitch McConnell state before or after she takes office that their No. 1 goal is to prevent her from doing things she appears likely to be elected to do? Everyone should truly accept the results of any election. Legislative give and take is appropriate, but recent acrimony has been detrimental to our country.
