Fact-checking Barr

After watching the 6th District congressional debate on KET, I did some fact-checking.

I already know that the Rev. Nancy Jo Kemper is honest, trustworthy, intelligent and solution-oriented. I decided to learn more about her opponent, Andy Barr.

According to OpenSecrets.org, Barr received rather large contributions from the banking industry, including Chase, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Bank of America, UBS AG (the latter is based in Zurich, Switzerland). These do not sound like the small hometown banks I heard him describe.

When I listen to a debate, I want to hear what each candidate sees as a problem and what they would do to resolve it.

Instead of continuing to fight the War on Poverty, the War on Drugs, the War on Terrorism and the wars in the Middle East, let’s develop clear nonviolent communication skills so we can focus on creating a healthy, prosperous and peaceful planet.
