Spurn proto-dictator Trump

There is one more step to take until the conclusion of this election. On Monday, Dec. 19, electors will cast the final vote for president.

Due to the constitutional nature of the Electoral College, it is the right and duty of electors to cast a “faithless” vote against the party’s nominee if that nominee displays unfitness, recklessness or any other quality not consistent with the American democratic tradition.

There is discontent among some electors, both Democrat and Republican. If you have not read Texas elector Christopher Suprun’s letter of intent to exercise his constitutional right and duty to be a “faithless” elector, then I highly recommend it.

His actions, words and intentions as a 9/11 first-responder and now as a Republican elector are truly cut from the American cloth. Suprun is honorable and courageous. Donald Trump, conversely, is neither honorable nor courageous. His actions, words and intentions are conceived purely in self-interest. He would rather emulate dictators around the world than mold himself from the great American tradition. He is proudly ahistorical and is riding the wave of fake news. Electors should reject this patently un-American proto-dictator.
