Bevin takes step toward fairer hiring, now let’s restore voting rights
The legislature is expected to consider criminal-justice reform. The executive order Gov. Matt Bevin signed with regard to applications for state jobs (in which there is no up-front rejection of those with felony records) is a small, but significant, step toward fairer hiring practices.
Repeated attempts to restore the voting rights of felons have been frustrated. This should be the year to correct a harsh and vindictive law.
