Red light means stop

Having recently moved to the Lexington area from the Pacific Northwest, I have noticed that the great people here have little regard for traffic laws. I have never seen so many people run red lights.

Recently I was at a red light; when the crossing traffic’s light turned yellow, three cars never even slowed down as they went through. When the light turned red, two more cars went through, well above the posted speed limit.

Since I had the green light, I would have been hit broadside by that last car had I not been paying attention. Red-light cameras probably would more than pay for themselves if they were installed in most intersections.

Also, the use of turn signals is nearly nonexistent. And many people seem to think stop signs are only a suggestion.

Folks in this beautiful state should stop, not speed up, to beat the light red light.
