What’s in a name, UK?

When I read that Commonwealth Stadium will be renamed Kroger Field, I was shocked and dismayed. We taxpayers helped pay for it, so why name it after a grocery chain?

Of course, money is the answer. New money for the University of Kentucky Athletics Department. However, I doubt it will reduce the cost of tickets.

After thinking about it, however, I came to the conclusion that it was a good idea. Imagine all the money that could be raised if we had the CVS College of Pharmacy, USA Today School of Journalism, Bayer College of Medicine, Morgan and Morgan College of Law, Capital Records Department of Music, Sesame Street College of Education, and many more. The possibilities are endless.

Think about the savings for the taxpayers. What a windfall. Call the administration. Let’s get it done. And thank UK President Eli Capilouto and Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart for the idea.
