Great day for environment
On May 31, people from several organizations assembled in Triangle Park to express concerns about changes in environmental regulations since Donald Trump became president. The gathering was in response to the planned visit of Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt.
Even though Pruitt canceled his visit the night before the event, groups still gathered to show support for such issues as clean water and air, non-fossil fuels and social justice. Then they marched together with signs describing the issues. The event was peaceful, and the group appreciated the coverage by the media.
Special thanks to the Lexington police department for its presence at intersections during our walk and to Lexington Center for permitting us to gather at Triangle Park and offering security. It was a great day.
