Back to the Republican norm

When President Mike Pence pardons Donald Trump, let’s try to be bigger people about this. Let’s not demand that they “lock him up.” Being rid of him, or as I learned when I first came to Kentucky, “getting shud of him,” should suffice.

This person —whom the “non-elitists” put in office despite his multitude of lies (especially to them), despite his impugning of war heroes, whole religions and people of color, despite mocking the physically disabled and advocating sexual predation — should never have been dignified with the title of president. We’ll have enough of a problem with a normal Republican like Pence.

I know Pence is a self-righteous, gay-bashing, climate-change-denying, hypocritical prude, but it will seem like a luxury to have only to deal with everyday Republican cruelty, greed and anti-science stupidity. We can go back to the ordinary struggle against avarice and run-of-the-mill unconstitutional, Taliban-esque shoving of Christianity down our collective throats.

What a pleasure.
