Unprecedented president

Until Donald Trump, no American president has denounced our courts, the State Department, the military, our intelligence agencies, the free press and the election system or questioned the patriotism of critics and historians.

No president has ever appointed cabinet secretaries who promised to dismantle or destroy the very departments and policies they swore to oversee. In foreign policy, no president has insulted our democratic and NATO allies while praising the worst dictatorships of Asia, the Middle East and even Russia, our strongest enemy.

Reportedly, Trump’s son-in-law, possibly his closest adviser, in an attempt to bypass our normal intelligence agencies, tried to open a secret, back channel run by the Russians even before Trump’s inauguration. This is disturbing, scary, naive, even stupid, to say the least.

It is time for transparency, and anyone who loves our country will work for a full investigation, whatever that brings.
