Russia sows chaos in U.S.

A foreign adversary has invaded us in plain sight, penetrated our highest office, disrupted our democracy. This kleptocratic, murdering regime has already achieved significant aims however this situation resolves.

Russia has sown chaos and caused a loss of faith in our electoral process and democratic traditions here and abroad. Our two-party system is in near total breakdown. Trench warfare and implacable opposition have overwhelmed all attempts to solve problems and move forward. Moneyed interests subvert the public interest — on both sides of the aisle.

Millions of people voted for a man of profound ignorance, poor character, blighted history and no public-service experience. Yes, some were attracted to the scapegoating, prejudice, dog whistles, faux machismo. Others were so compelled by this red/blue thing that they just could not bring themselves to make another choice. Others were so fed-up, ignored, desperate, disgusted with things as usual that they were willing to chance a man who had never shown an iota of genuine concern for the common man/woman.

We are in this experiment called democracy together. All of us have a stake in how everyone is doing. We need to get it right, and we need to get it together.
