Serve lawmakers crow, well done

Eating crow means being humiliated by admitting to having been proven wrong after taking a strong position. Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, along with U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, are candidates for some crow eating after going to the mat for the morally bankrupt Trumpcare health plan.

Paul apparently has forgotten part of the Hippocratic oath. Barr said he’d vote “enthusiastically yes” for depriving millions of health coverage. McConnell’s fully exposed as the charlatan he is. He’s like Kipling’s Morrowbie Jukes, who, after days of nothing to eat is forced to do what he swore he never would: literally eat crow.

In 1948, The Washington Post invited President Harry Truman to attend a “crow banquet” with failed media prognosticators (including the Post’s) who had called the win for Thomas Dewey: “… the losers will have breast of tough old crow en glace; you (Truman) will eat turkey.”

Hope McConnell, Paul and Barr eat hearty.
