U.S. should never shut down

Brave men and women in military service are risking their lives for our freedom, liberty and safety. We’ve been fighting in Iraq-Afghanistan 16 years, and face many terrorist threats.

We face nuclear war with North Korea, and China and Russia may side with North Korea. Our troops and allies must be confident that we won’t shut down but will stand strong in their support.

President Donald Trump insults our allies and gives our enemies confidence.

Friends in NATO have stood with us and lost some precious men and women in war. Why would NATO allies risk lives in war helping a nation so ignorant it considers shutting down its government in a time of great peril?

President Ronald Reagan said, “We are not a deadbeat nation.” Trump was a deadbeat four times when he took bankruptcies and swindled suppliers and workers out of their money. Trump University was a deadbeat college.

The land of the free and home of the brave should never shut down. Semper Fidelis, the Marine Corps motto, means “Always Faithful.”
