Impressed by Ky. visit, folk art center
As native Kentuckians, my wife and I recently visited Lexington and nearby towns. We were impressed with the beauty and sites of the area and the friendliness of the people.
We had a special day visiting Morehead and its Kentucky Folk Art Center. Its collection and the friendly reception by the staff are especially valued aspects of the eastern end of the state. We were involved in the early days at Morehead State when folk art collection and preservation began in earnest. It is great to see how the university has continued to promote these important elements of Kentucky history and culture.
We were happy to rediscover that Lexington and the surrounding region continue to be cultural treasure houses for Kentucky and the nation. The arts, history and cultural preservation found in the region are important to the state, and the folk art center is a fine example of the work being done.
We thank Lexington, Morehead and Richmond for a great visit. We will be back.
