Remember the Titans

What are we to think about Trump’s blasting NFL players and calling them sons-of bitches? Did he really mean to call their mothers bitches? I want to think not. So what should Trump do now?

I think the next episode of Trump Towers should show Trump visiting those African-American mothers in their homes, perhaps having dinner with them and listening to them tell him what it’s like to raise a son who is strong, smart and determined to make his mark in a society that kills unarmed black men.

Before Trump rejects my suggestion, I call on him and the rest of us to rewatch the movie “Remember the Titans.” This is a true story of two football coaches (one black and one white) who united a black and a white football team — along with the school and town — and went on to win their championship game.

Uniting is a win-win strategy. And visiting African-American mothers would make a great reality TV episode, especially if Trump took Oprah Winfrey with him.
