Flag symbol of sacrifice

Go look into the eyes of a mother whose son gave his hopes, his future, his very life, then tell her you can no longer honor or respect the symbol of his sacrifice — our flag. Walk through a field of white crosses, watch that flag lowered to half-staff, then go tell her you can no longer honor what she gave.

Go tell her.

From a WW II vet and mother.

P.S. Thanks, Herald-Leader, for not even bothering to mention Victory over Japan Day again this year.
