McConnell’s selective morality

I have to say that, for once, I was proud of Sen. Mitch McConnell when he said that he believed the women who claimed they had been sexually assaulted as teenagers by Alabama Republican senatorial candidate Judge Roy Moore and that Moore should withdraw from the race.

But it leaves me wondering why McConnell didn’t have the same sense of conviction when then-candidate Donald Trump admitted on video to sexually assaulting women and a whole host of women came forward claiming that Trump had sexually assaulted them.

To be consistent, McConnell should have stated at the time that Trump should end his candidacy for president just like Moore. Did McConnell’s morality only develop after Trump was elected president?
