Rich? Andy Barr’s for you

Death, taxes and Rep. Andy Barr’s catering to the rich and powerful are three things that apparently can’t be avoided.

Barr’s latest plunge into battle in support of the wealthy comes in his support for the House tax bill. Under the name of reform, this bill would eliminate the estate tax — a tax that affects fewer than two in 1,000 estates, and only if you leave behind more than $5.5 million in assets. Oh, and the bill also eliminates the alternative minimum tax, which mostly hits taxpayers earning between $200,000 and $1 million.

So, to summarize, if you make over $200,000 per year and have an estate of over $5.5 million, Barr is working hard for you. For the rest of his constituents? Not so much.
