Bag the plastic

I would like to make a suggestion to all shoppers who still bring home plastic bags from any or all places where they shop: Please, before you put the bags into the trash, tie them into a knot or two to keep them from flying everywhere when the trucks pick up your trash. Hardly a day passes when I don’t see free-floating plastic bags in the street, in my yard and ultimately in my basement window wells.

Several years ago, I bought several reusable bags. I try to use them for all my shopping, grocery or otherwise. When I unpack my purchases, I put the bags back into my car. Otherwise, I would surely forget them on my next shopping trip and come home with a load of plastic. This has worked for me; hopefully it might work for others.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

Perhaps the key might be “habit.” Aren’t we all creatures of habit? I have certainly found that to be true for me.
