McConnell political calculations

Let’s not mistake spin control for audacity. Lately, we’ve been hearing a few talking heads on talk radio and cable TV shows attribute moral scruples to Sen. Mitch McConnell on account of his call for Roy Moore to withdraw his candidacy for the U.S. Senate.

That sounds awfully strange to say the least. Most everyone else believes McConnell to be unscrupulous. Sorting out these contradictions is not very difficult, though. We need only to consider these two clarifying questions.

What if McConnell could change the subject by attacking the Democrats for an imaginary “war on coal”? What if McConnell had calculated that the majority of the voters were apathetic about sexual harassment?
