Trump still behind Obama on economy
President Donald Trump likes to point out that the stock market is at record highs and the unemployment rate is the lowest it has been in 17 years. He says he created more than a million jobs during his first six months.
Businesses created more jobs during former President Barack Obama’s last six months than were created during Trump’s first six months. In fact, more jobs were created during Obama’s first six months of years 2011-16 than were created during Trump’s first six months.
During the Obama administration, the stock market hit a record high on March 5, 2013. It continued to hit record highs through the rest of 2013, and through 2014-16.
The unemployment rate dropped from 10 percent to 4.6 percent, and the Obama administration cut former President George W. Bush’s budget deficit by more than half.
The Trump administration has a long way to go to match the Obama administration’s accomplishments.
